The initial construction of the Las Vegas Convention Center began in the
1950’s. Growth has been amazingly consistent since then. In 2006, the
center comprised approximately 3 million square feet. Feasibility
studies had indicated that the ratio of meeting spec to exhibit space
needed to be enhanced. Working with the architect and a team of
consultants,
McCleskey Consulting, Inc.
(with sub-consultant Simon Wong & Associates) investigated virtually
every space in the building with respect to mechanical, electrical and
plumbing facilities and infrastructure. This included the central plant
and the 15kV primary distribution for the center. The Owner also asked
for recommendations to improve the functionality of the existing South
Hall. The results of the investigations were documented in data sheets
prepared for the entire facility and a narrative of suggestion for the
South Hall.

Based on the approved
Evaluation/Master Plan, the team began the schematic design for the
expansion and renovation. The plan called for the construction of
approximately 225,000 SF of new meeting space to be constructed over Dessert
Inn road, about 150,000 SF of a new north-south connector lobby and
significant renovation of the existing lobby, food court and meeting rooms,
a major upgrade to the South Hall electrical infrastructure, a 4000 ton
expansion of the central plant and significant revision to the 15kV site
distribution system. McCleskey
Consulting, Inc.,
along with Simon Wong & Associates, provided mechanical, electrical and
plumbing design through the Schematic design level. |
